Yafei has always enjoyed exploring and developing ideas through active process of hands-on making. Yafei have worked extensively in metal and machine fabrication such as working in an experimental race car team, and am very active in digital fabrication tools such as 3-D printing and CNC. He conducted a two-year research on IoT (Internet of Things) funded by DARPA, focusing on near-zero power sensors and actuators. His combined background in these fields and now in architecture will help him to meaningfully understand and analyse fabrication and manufacturing processes and techniques, and to imagine new applications in architecture design processes and construction industry innovation.
